Grace Sentamu and Tim Baverstock 18th Dec 2009

We got the call a couple of months ago to book us for "a few family pictures at the Palace in Bishopthorpe". So marked the day out in the diary and carried on unawares that in a completely understated day we had been booked to photograph the wedding of Grace the daughter of Yorks ArchBishop - John Sentamu.  Once the penny dropped, I went over to the palace to see Grace and her mum Margaret and got the rundown on what was required.  The formals were to be taken to match the style or Dr John and Margaret Sentamus wedding photographs from Uganda - ie. serious expressions, formal almost victorian poses and bride and groom shot together before the wedding, all in Black and White.  Mint, right up my street - but with a bride that's constantly laughing, we had to literally alternate serious and relaxed expressions for the groups and portraits.  brilliant fun.

Then a quiet little service in the Minster for 200.  The wonderful Canon Glyn Webster and I had a chat and worked out how to get the shots Grace would like without disturbing the service by moving around at all.  So with Katie in the audience, Joe in the organ loft and myself running in from the snow to get to my spot in the pulpit, we set film speed to 'very high' and got to it.  Brilliant, emotional, fun service as it should be when your dad runs the venue and walked you in before conducting the service.  No where near finishing the piccies yet so just a taste here before Grace and Tim come back from honeymoon.  Wonderful couple and an absolute pleasure to work for.

I highly recommend Jim and his team. Great guy, and quality photos.

Thanks Jim for being such a sport. The black and whites crack us up.

Hi Grace and Tim, how fantastic to see you wedded so happily - I love all the photos and look forward to seeing more, but especially I responded to the second one as I could see your joy - as well as your father's!! Your sense of humour, as well as your excellent sense of tradition show through in the first photo and the third photo is a bit of a special - wish that I had been there to give you both a big hug!!!!
Abracos e beijos from Brasil
e Deus abencoe as duas, sempre, para todas vidas,
Mike and Silvia
